Most days consist of readings from three different sections of Scripture. Of course, we encourage you to dive into all three but even if you only have time to read one, don't let that discourage you from using this plan. And if you skip a day, just jump back in with today's reading!
Each day there is a reading from one of the Gospels as well as a Psalm. These passages are intended to be read slowly, prayerfully, and meditatively.* Take time to ponder the person and character of Jesus as well as the words of the Psalmist- turning them over in your mind, considering them from every angle. Allow this meditation to push you to pray to God the Father in line with the text of the Bible.
Additionally, each day we will read a passage of Scripture specifically selected to help us prepare for the sermon that week. We will start by quickly reading through Revelation. After that, most weeks we will read the sermon passage on Monday, Saturday and Sunday. On the other days we will read through Daniel, then 1 & 2 Thessalonians, and finally Zechariah. Pay careful attention to the way the themes in each of these books compare with and reinforce the principles found in Revelation. These are admittedly challenging books to read on your own, so don't be discouraged if you find yourself confused or scratching your head! Take the initiative to reach out to someone to talk about what you're reading and what's challenging. Additionally, we encourage you to watch the Bible Project's short Bible Book Overview videos to get a better handle on each book's structure and overarching ideas.
